Class 68(1) The shovel 14 of a shovelling machine is pivotally mounted on the axis of the pivotal connections between the lower arm 6 and a connecting link 8 of a parallelogram linke 4, 5, 6 and 8 mounted on either side of the mobile chassis 1 of the machine, and is rotated about said axis by a jack or a pair of jacks 18 so pivotally mounted on the connecting links that the jack or jacks are approximately perpendicular to the line joining the pivotal connection at the top of the shovel between the piston rod and the shovel and the pivot axis for all positions of the bucket.
