Abstract

797,679. Bottling. WATNEY COMBE REID & CO., Ltd. July 24, 1956 [May 10, 1955], No. 13562/55. Class 125(2). A method of filling and closing a liquid holding container includes injecting a gas into the liquid in said container prior to capping and sealing wherein the liquid is mechanically agitated in the gas-injection zone to produce a close-knit formation of small bubbles distributed over a relatively large area. A device can be attached to the already known gas-injecting machines (broken lines) operating on a turntable so that when the nozzle 26 is dipped into the liquid the agitator 30 is set in vibration by an electric motor 28. The injection device 4, is operated by a cam 6 which is fixed, and as the machine rotates the injection device is pressed down. The agitating device is simultaneously set in motion by the cam completing an electric circuit by means of contacts 33, 19. The agitator may alternatively set the nozzle of the jet vibrating, for which arrangement a flexible nozzle is provided. According to the Provisional Specification the nozzle may be oscillated mechanically or by compressed air.
