Abstract
797,423. Producing electroplated spring steel. YOUNG, S. G. April 4, 1955 [Jan. 4, 1954], No. 207/54. Class 41. Steel in a softened state is electroplated and is then heat-treated to harden and temper it to produce plated spring steel. Typically, batches of articles of softened steel are barrel-plated from a copper cyanide bath at 60‹ F. and after washing and drying are heated to 810‹ C., quenched in an oil bath at atmospheric temperature and tempered at between 370‹ and 400‹ C., followed by a final washing and drying.
