Abstract
797,379. Aircraft undercarriages. SOC. ANON. DES ATELIERS D'AVIATION L. BREGUET. Nov. 15, 1955 [Nov. 19, 1954], No. 32660/55. Class 4. To facilitate stowage in a mid-wing aircraft the undercarriage wheel-supporting element is adjusted relatively to the leg by a linkage which operates automatically during retraction. The leg 3, pivoted to the wing at 0, carries at its lower end a pivot 7 for an arm 6 supporting the axle 5 of the wheel 4. A folding brace 11, 13 is connected at 10 to the leg 3 and at 14 to the wing 2 and the portion 13 has a cranked extension 13a connected to a retraction jack 15. The portion 11 has an extension 11a and the arm 6 has an extension 6a and between these extensions is a toggle linkage 17, 18, 19 and a spring box 16 which serve to lock the portions of the brace in line and lock the arm 6 to the leg 3 when the undercarriage is retracted. During the initial stage of retraction the toggle linkage and spring box orientate the wheel into its correct position with respect to the leg to ensure correct stowage within the fuselage as shown by chain dotted lines. The pivot 7 may support a shock absorber 21 for rotation by link 19, the wheel 4 being mounted on the shock absorber by a rocking arm 22.
