Abstract
796,780. Endless scraper conveyers. SUTCLIFFE, Ltd., R., and SYNAC, J. Sept. 24, 1954 [Sept. 4, 1953], No. 24581/53. Class 78 (1). In a scraper conveyer in which the scraper bars are secured between a pair of driving chains or cables, each bar is provided with end portions of reduced depth as compared with the remainder of the bar which are adapted to receive the chains or cables, and with a clamp member at each end which has a bifurcated portion between the branches of which engages a part of the bar, this part being fastened to the branches whereby the clamp member secures a chain or cable to an end portion. As shown, the bar is formed with reduced end portions 6 on which horizontal links 7 of a driving chain 3 are secured by clamping members 13. Each link is located on an end portion by a projection 8 on the end portion extending upwardly between the arms of the link and having flutes 9 to receive the vertical links on either side of the link 7. Each clamping member comprises a main body 14 with a projection 15, similar to the projection 8, extending downwardly between the arms of the link and having flutes 16 similar to the flutes 9, and a bifurcated extension piece comprising tongues 17, 18 between which extends a tongue 10 on the bar. By means of a bolt 23 extending through these tongues, the clamping member is secured to the bar and holds the chain 3 against the bar.
