[Also in Group XXIII] The central links 1 and 2 and the side links 3 of a saw chain for a power-driven chain saw have each a nose 5 at one end which bears on the rounded end of a succeeding link during the straight part of the run of the chain. The side links 4 and 4a may each have a nose 5 but, particularly where the nose would foul the outer curve 1b of the cutter teeth 1a when the chain bends round a sprocket, both ends of the links may be rounded.
