Abstract

1,117,859. Woodworking; removing bark. ROTENBURGER METALLWERKE G.m.b.H. 3 March, 1967 [9 March, 1966], No. 10056/67. Heading B5L. A chain cutter for de-branching and debarking trees comprises a link chain which serves as a carrier for cutting teeth mounted on the chain links and which, in use, at least partially embraces the tree trunk and has rollers for engaging the tree trunk, the cutting edges of the teeth projecting towards the tree trunk to points adjacent the points of engagement of the rollers with the tree trunk. The chain cutter has the rollers 2 between inner links 4 and intermediate links 5 and outer links 3, the outer links carrying cutting teeth 6, 7, 8 on their outer faces. The rollers 2 engage the trunk 9 and the cutting teeth 6 have their cutting edges 11 extending to points 12 adjacent the contact point of the rollers 2 with the trunk 9. The cutting teeth 7, 8 are staggered laterally of the length of the chain cutter, the teeth 8 extending outwardly of the cutter to provide a clearance when cutting a branch 19 from the trunk 9.
