Abstract
796,641. Mineral - mining machines. MAVOR & COULSON. Ltd. March 19,1957 [March 5, 1956], No. 6786/56. Class 68(1) In a mining machine in which a rotary drum cutter acts on the buttock of a face the mined mineral is removed from within the interior of the drum into which it falls by a coveyer. The drum consists of arcular end plates 31, 32 interconnected by curved radially extending plates 35 that carry picks 37. The drum revolves on a hollow shaft 34 support in the gear head 13 and has an opening 39 through which mined mineral passes from the plates 35 of the drum. A helical conveyer 50 extends through the shaft 34 to the gear head. An overcutting jib 61 is mounted on a telescopic turret 64 on the gear head from which drives are taken to the drum, helical conveyer and overcutter chain 60.
