Abstract
796,614. Laminates. PRESSED STEEL CO., Ltd. Nov. 29, 1956 [Nov. 30, 1955], No. 34265/55. Class 140. A trim pad for vehicle bodies built up of a backing board 15, a padding or wadding material 17, and a facing material, all connected together in a pattern by the application of heat and pressure, employs a facing material in two sections 18, 19, of contrasting pattern or colour which are first placed face-to-face and together welded or otherwise secured along the margins 20 to the backing board, after which facing 19 is secured over padding 17 to the margin of the backing board, and facing 18 is folded back over the weld line and over its padding layer and secured to the opposite margins of the backing board. A flanged beading may be placed between the margins of the different facing materials. The backing board may be of wood, hardboard, papier mache, compressed cardboard, or a synthetic resin board; the padding may be of wadding, foamed rubber, or foamed synthetic resin; and the facings may be of leather, leather cloth, moquette, or a synthetic resin material. A strip of synthetic resin glue may be placed between the board and the material 19. The facings may be lapped around the margins of the backing board and secured by stapling or adhesive or both.
