Abstract

796,414. Gas filters. PERMENTIER, P. R. DE. Feb. 7, 1955 [Feb. 6, 1954], No. 3501/55. Class 8(2). Each sleeve 16 of an outward flow multisleeve gas filter or each group of a plurality of groups of sleeves has a valve-controlled dustladen gas inlet 10 and a valve-controlled opening 14 leading to a suction chamber 2, the valves 8, 12 thereof being connected to each other and to a fluid pressure, e.g., a pneumatic jack 18, 19 by a rod 17 whereby valve 8 is open and valve 12 closed during normal filtration and reversed during a filter sleeve cleaning period ; the jacks being operable in a predetermined sequence, e.g., by release of compressed air from beneath each jack piston 18 through an associated valve 21 when opened by abutment of a lug 29 thereof against the nose 28 of a rotating cam 27. In operation dust-laden gas is forced from an upper casing 1 through the open valves 8 of all sleeves 16 except that undergoing cleaning and is then forced outwardly through the sleeve walls. Cleaning air or gas drawn through the sleeve wall in the reverse direction and through the open valve 12 is freed from dust by a cyclone 4 on the intake side of a fan 32 which discharges into the inlet of the upper casing 1.
