Abstract

796,171. Reverse gear control. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS-GES. Sept. 6, 1955 [Sept. 6, 1954], No. 25525/55. Class 80 (2). Rapid braking of a member driven selectively forward or reverse through electromagnetic clutches K1, K2 is produced by the simultaneous reduced energization of both clutchwindings K1, K2 in series, by the action of switching off either operative clutch. Hand closure of either switch A or B, operative in an A.C. transformer circuit T, closes also contacts A1 or B1 respectively, short-circuiting the one clutch-winding K2 or K1 for sole energization of the other clutch-winding K1 or K2, in a rectified D.C. circuit including a resistor R and rectifier G. Opening the switch A or B opens also the corresponding contacts A1 or B1, and the decaying current in the previously effective winding now flows through both clutch windings K1, K2 in series for braking. Magnetic powder, eddy current or other magnetic clutches may be used, and resistors R1, R2 also are provided. Only one switch A or B can be closed at any time.
