Abstract
796,017. Frequency-changing circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and DRYBROUGH, D. A. S. March 23, 1956 [April 5, 1955], No. 9935/55. Class 40 (6). A self-oscillating frequency-changer comprises a pentode with the local oscillator circuit 5, 6 connected between screen and control grids. The coil 6 is bifilar wound, with the centre-tap earthed over condenser 9, and is tuned by a movable ferromagnetic core. The signal input is injected by means of circuit 12, 13 which is tuned in a similar manner, and coupled to a fixed-tuned circuit 10, 11 in the cathode lead of the valve. The oscillator frequency is arranged on the higher side of the signal frequency and the circuit 10, 11 is tuned to the low-frequency end of the tuning range, thereby minimizing radiation of the local oscillations. In addition, the coils 6, 12 may be inductively coupled so as to "buck" any residual radiation. The intermediate frequency output is taken from a tuned circuit 14, 16 in the anode circuit of the valve.
