Abstract

795,541. Door operating devices. OLDFIELD, E. A. WOOD, J. T, and OLIVER H H. June 28, 1956 [July 22, 1955]. No. 21256/55. Class 65(1) [Also in Group XII] A furnace is provided with two coupled doors, the closing of one door automatically opening the other. In Figs. 1 and 2, an L-shaped link 24 is rigidly attached at its lower end to the door 18l, its upper end being connected to the furnace structure by the pivoted link 20. Operation of the shaft 28l by its handle 30 rotates a crank 27 the pin 26 of which engages a slot 25 intermediate the ends of link 24, causing bodily withdrawal and raising of the door. The other door 18r is operated by similar means from its shaft 28r which is coupled to shaft 281 by gears 291, 29r, to cause the shafts to rotate simultaneously in opposite directions.
