Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula: <FORM:0795504/IV (b)/1> wherein R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms. The compounds are prepared by reacting together equimolar proportions of a trimethylene diamine of the formula RNHCH2CH2CH2NH2 and formaldehyde. The formaldehyde may be reacted as formalin, trioxymethylene or paraformaldehyde. Temperatures of 60-100 DEG C. are preferred, and solvents such as water, methanol or ethanol may be used. Specified R radicals are octyl, nonyl, decyl, undecyl, dodecyl, tridecyl, tetradecyl, pentadecyl, hexadecyl, heptadecyl, octadecyl, eicosyl, docosyl, octadecenyl, octadecadienyl, octadecatrienyl and mixtures of radicals derived from tallow, soybean oil and coconut oil fatty acids. Exemplified triazines are 1 : 3 : 5 - tris - (N - coco - g - aminopropyl)-1 : 3 : 5 - hexahydrotriazine, 1 : 3 : 5 - tris - (N-tallow - g - aminopropyl) - 1 : 3 : 5 - hexahydrotriazine and 1 : 3 : 5 - tris - (N - dodecyl - g -aminopropyl)-1 : 3 : 5-hexahydrotriazine.ALSO:An additive for a strip-resistant bituminous composition used for coating both acidic and basic aggregates comprises a triazine compound of the formula: <f/1> wherein R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms.
