795,326. Tubular heat exchangers. SENIOR ECONOMISERS, Ltd. Feb. 22, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 11980/56. Class 64(3) A heat exchanger tube or a sleeve adapted to be fitted on to a heat exchanger tubes, is formed with two diametrically opposed longitudinal fins 2 and a plurality of longitudinally spaced transverse fins 3 of substantially triangular form, positioned on opposite sides of the longitudinal fins 2, either in opposed pairs or relatively staggered. When formed as a sleeve, the element may be made of cast iron or light alloy shrunk or cast on to a steel tube. In an economizer described, a plurality of tubular elements are mounted horizontally in vertical rows with the tubes in adjacent rows relatively staggered, the fins 2, either in opposed pairs or relatively alignment and the triangular tube fins 2 of one row fitting between but not intermeshing with those of adjacent rows.
