Abstract
Vinyl halide polymers are plasticized and stabilized against heat and light by incorporating therein a diepoxide compound of the formula: <FORM:0793595/IV (a)/1> where each R is hydrogen or an alkyl group. Conventional plasticizers, e.g. dioctyl phthalate and stabilizers, e.g. cadmium compounds may also be present. The polymer may be polyvinyl chloride, or a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile, or vinylidene chloride or a mixture of vinylidene chloride and acrylonitrile. The compounds may be prepared by the process of Specification 768,157, [Group IV (b)]. The diepoxide may be 3,4-epoxy-(1- or 2- or 3- or 4- or 6-methyl)cyclohexylmethyl 3,4-epoxy-(1- or 2- or 3- or 4- or 6-methyl) cyclohexanecarboxylate.
