Abstract

793,462. Scaffolding. ACCESS EQUIPMENT, Ltd., RUSLING, J. T., and NICHOLLS, J. W. June 20, 1956 [June 24, 1955], No. 18376/55. Class 20(2). A mobile working platform 2 raised on a trolley by scissor arms 21 and having a flexible ladder 1 fixed to the platform at 3 and to the trolley at .4 has automatic compensating apparatus driven from a scissor arm 21 to maintain the ladder taut at any height of the platform. The ladder 1 passes round wheels 6 on a trolley 10 running on a horizontal tracK and the position of which is controlled by a wire 14 passing round pulleys 15, 17, 18 and fixed at 19. Pulley 17 is on a fixed axle and pulleys 15, 18 are coaxial and mounted on a horizontal movable trolley 16 having vertical guides 25 engaged by a roller 24 carried by arms 22, on one of the scissor arms 21. Movement of the trolley 16 by the scissor arms is multiplied by the pulley and trolley mechanism to allow the ladder to be maintained taut as the platform 2 is raised.
