Abstract

793,325. Combustion apparatus. SOC. ANON. GENERALE THERMIQUE - PROCEDES BROLA. Nov. 21, 1955 [Nov. 24, 1954], No. 33186/55. Class 51 (1). The combustion apparatus, Fig. 1, comprises a tubular member 12 inserted at one end in an aperture formed in one wall of a casing 25 the end so inserted mounting the unit structure shown in Fig. 3. This structure comprises a shell member 1 having holes 3, 4, 5, an annular ring member 7 and fins 6 which connect the shell and the member 7 forming slot-like apertures 11 therebetween. The shell is also formed with a central opening 2 into which, when the structure is in position in the apparatus, is pointed a fuel injector 14 and a sparking plug 15. In operation, all combustion air is supplied from the casing 25, primary, secondary and tertiary air entering the combustion chamber, comprised by the shell and the member 12, through the opening 2, the holes 3, 4, 5 and the slots 11 respectively. The shell 1 may be hemispherical or paraboloidal in shape and the base edges 9, 10, Fig. 2, of the fins are such that the air passing through the slots 11 is caused to eddy in vortices 17.
