Abstract

Organic metal complexes are obtained by reaction of a basic salt of a polyvalent metal with a derivative of an inorganic or organic acid having a basicity of at least three, which derivative contains a higher molecular weight aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aliphatic-aromatic or aliphatic cycloaliphatic residue. Specified inorganic acids whose derivatives may be used are boric acid, phosphoric acid and arsenic acid; specified organic acids are citric, trimeric, trimellitic, mellitic, diadipic, ethane-tetra-acetic, sulphophthalic, hydroxynaphthalic, pyrogallic and pyrogallol-carboxylic acids, and also condensation products of oleic acid, linseed oil fatty acid and soya oil fatty acid with maleic acid. Specified derivatives are acid dodecyl phosphate, acid octadecenyl phosphate, hexadecyl borate, octadecenyl arsenate, acid hexadecyl citrate, acid dodecylsulphophthalate, mononaphthenylamide of citric acid, mono-octodecenylamide of citric acid, mono- or di-octyl, mono- or di-dodecyl, mono- or di-oleyl esters of orthophosphoric acid, monotetradecyl ester of phosphoric acid, mono-oleyl ester of citric acid and mixtures of acid esters obtained by action of phosphorus pentoxide on higher - molecularweight hydroxy compounds. Specified basic salts of polyvalent metals are basic chromium chloride, basic aluminium chloride, basic aluminium nitrate, and basic titanium chloride. Examples disclose reacting basic chromium chloride with the mono-tetradecyl ester of phosphoric acid or with a mixture of alkyl esters of phosphoric acid (alkyl residues C12-C18) in methanol; and reacting basic aluminium chloride with a mixture of alkyl esters of phosphoric acid (alkyl residues C12-C18) in methanol.
