Abstract

An anti-fungal composition for treating fabrics comprises an aqueous solution containing a thermosetting aminoplastic resin and a watersoluble complex of 8-hydroxyquinoline with copper and chromium.ALSO:The invention comprises water-soluble metallomixed complexes of 8-hydroxy-quinoline with chromium and a polyvalent metal other than chromium. The complexes are made by reacting 8-hydroxy-quinoline in one or more stages with a basic salt of trivalent chromium and a monobasic acid or a derivative of chromium capable of providing such a salt during the reaction on the one hand, and a salt or hydroxide of a polyvalent metal other than chromium on the other hand, in an organic solvent at an elevated temperature. Many polyvalent metals are specified and examples are given. The complexes are used in the anti-fungal treatment of textiles. Specifications 761,834 and 849,274 are referred to.ALSO:An antifungal composition comprises an aqueous solution of a mixed metal complex of 8-hydroxy-quinoline with copper and chromium. The solution may also contain an alcohol, hexamethylene-tetramine or a cationic or non-ionic wetting agent.
