790,900. Making cathodes. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI R. T. Dec. 21, 1955 [Dec. 24, 1954], No. 36650/55. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XL (a)] An L-cathode comprises a cylindrical cup 6 fitting tightly within another cup 4, the space between their end-walls forming the reservoir chamber for the emissive material 5; an opening in the end wall of cup 4 is filled by the porous closure 3, which overlaps the edge 14 of the opening on both sides 9, 10, as shown, or on one side only (Fig. 2, not shown). The form of Fig. 2 (not shown) is made by placing the outer cup 4 apertured end downwards in a press mould, adding sufficient tungsten powder to form the closure 3, and then pressing and sintering. To make the form of Fig. 1, a quantity of tungsten powder is placed in the mould first, then the cup inserted, and a further quantity of tungsten powder added, so that the sintered closure will overlap both sides of the flange 14.
