Abstract
790,802. Change-speed gearing. FICHTEL & SACHS AKT.-GES. Nov. 1, 1955 [Nov. 17, 1954], No. 31192/55. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXXVII] In a two-part gear-shift lever on a motor vehicle wherein, prior to moving the gear-shifting part 1, an actuating part 2 tilts relative to the part 1 so as to close a switch for disengaging the main clutch, the part 2 extends into a sleeve 3 adjustably screwed on the part 1 and has an end flange 7 held against an inwardly-extending flange of the sleeve 3 by a spring 5, the flat end face 9 of the part 2 constituting one switch contact face adapted to co-operate with the flat end face 10 of a contact member 11 carried by an insulating sleeve 12 secured in the end of the part 1. If the switch is to be closed upon movement of the part 2 in any direction, both surfaces 9, 10 are circular. If, however, the switch is to be closed only by movement of the part 2 towards the front or rear of the vehicle, the surface 10 is made narrower transversely of the vehicle, as shown.
