790,772. Locking nuts. PRIEST & SONS, Ltd., B. Nov. 1, 1955 [Nov. 1, 1954], No. 31459/54. Class 89(1) [Also in Group XXII] A locking-washer comprises an annular body with one or more radially outwardly - projecting tabs 11 and a number of prongs 15 inclined radially-inwardly and axially with respect to the body, the points of the prongs lying on a circle of slightly larger diameter than the diameter of the thread of the member receiving the washer. A nut is locked on the thread by clamping the washer against the work through which said member passes, thereby deforming the prongs into the threads, and finally bending the tab or tabs against one or more of the nut flats. The cut-out 13 forming the prongs consists of circles having their centres on the corners of a square 14 where four prongs are involved, or an. equilateral triangle or regular pentagon respectively for three or five prongs.
