Abstract

790,726. Dough feeding apparatus. BAHLSEN, W. Feb. 20, 1956 [July 22, 1955], No. 5113/56. Class 28 (1). [Also in Group XXX] Dough is fed on to the conveyer band of a baking oven by a rotating brush whose bristles are fed with a film of dough and then pass over a knife edge or the like which releases them suddenly causing the dough to be deposited as finely divided particles on the conveyer. Dough is pumped from a supply container to the supply chamber 6 of feed box 1 from which a transfer roller 7 carries a layer 8 to an adjustable doctor blade 9 which reduces the layer 8 to a layer 11 of uniform thickness. Blade 9 is carried on an angle member 12 mounted to be vertically adjustable against the action of spring 13 by a knurled screw 15 passing through a flange 14 of box 1. As roller 7 rotates, the layer 11 is removed by an edge 16 of box 1 and is fed to the bristles 18 of a brush 17 rotating anti-clockwise as shown in Fig. 2. The ends 20 of bristles 18 engage and are bent by the arched part 19 of box 1 so that, as they pass the lower lip 22, they straighten up and spray the dough on to the conveyer. Supply chamber 6 of feed box 1 is separated by a partition 25 from an overflow chamber 24. Dough is supplied to chamber 6 in excess of what is required and the surplus overflows into chamber 24 and is returned through pipe 27 to the supply container. Feed box 1 has a cover 28.
