790,337. Roller-briquetting machines. KOPPERN, H., and SCHAFER, H., [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK KOPPERN & CO., KOMM.-GES.]. Dec. 29, 1955 [Dec. 30, 1954], No. 37328/55. Class 87(2). Fine adjustment of the relative angular position of rollers 1, 2 carrying mould halves 17 between which briquettes are moulded is achieved by slight variations between couplings 9, 13 and 10, 14 in shafts 11, 12. The drive is from a motor 3 through reduction gearing 4 and the shafts 11, 12 are intermediate between the gearing and the rollers. A coupling comprises a pair of male and female members 21, 25 with toothed engagement and the components of at least two couplings have unequal numbers of teeth. For example the couplings 10 and 13 may have 100 teeth, the couplings 9 may have 101 teeth and the coupling 14 may have 99 teeth. To adjust for accurate alignment of the mould halves the couplings may be altered by, say, one tooth either way to give a desired sum or difference of tooth pitches.
