Abstract

790,253. Laminates. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Aug. 19, 1955 [Aug. 19, 1954J, No. 23958/55. Class 140. A composite wall-plate or panel comprises layers of synthetic plastic material (e.g. epoxide resins), comprising at least one layer 18, Fig. 4, having an unbroken surface, and one layer 11, which is provided with lines of staggered cuplike depressions 16 of round or six-sided outline formed by sloping walls W with a moderate angle of inclination and having flat base surfaces 17 of substituted area and being connected to the unbroken layer by adhesion over the whole base surfaces of the depressions. The adhesion may be achieved by placing the partly hardened layers together while still " wet " and subsequently hardening or an intermediate adhesive material layer of the same nature as the layers may be used. The layers may be of the same or different materials or thickness and may be similarly or differently reinforced. Various modified panels are shown in Figs. 5, 7 and 8 wherein Fig. 5 shows a further plastic layer joined to the rims of the depressions; in Fig. 7, two composite panels as in Fig. 4 are joined together by their rims and in Fig. 8 the same is done but an intermediate flat sheet 19 is interposed between the two panels. Where two panels are joined, the depressions may be of the same or different profile provided there is a sufficient mating of the rims. The panels may be used in refrigerated vehicles, aircraft and ships, as wall or roof structures or as containers.
