Abstract

1,154,241. Laminates. VENESTA MFG. Ltd. 11 Jan., 1967 [11 Jan., 1966], No. 1224/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Division E1] A laminated panel of sandwich construction comprises an inner layer 1 of expanded polystyrene bonded by a timber frame 2, and two outer layers 3 of compressed fibreboard, e.g. hardboard, arranged on each of the two opposite surfaces of the polystyrene and extending over the frame, the outer surfaces of the layers 3 having a thin protective facing 4 of a laminate comprising bonded layers of paper impregnated with melamine-formaldehyde and phenol-aldehyde resin respectively, the melamine-formaldehyde resin layer forming the outer surface. The panel is used as a door panel, is abrasion and impact resistant, and acoustically insulating.
