Abstract
789,970. Thermal regenerators &c. GREEN & SON, Ltd., E. May 3, 1954 [Feb. 4, 1953], No. 3139/53. Class 64(1) Heat absorbing elements 4 travelling through a partition 10 separating two fluid streams, e.g. hot gas and air, so as to transfer heat from one stream to the other, consist in plates so attached to an endless conveyer 1 as to form flaps which lie close together like the leaves of a book as they pass through the partition. In the form shown, the plates 4 are pivoted to chains 1 or bands passing over sprocket wheels 2 or drums. Seals 8 are provided on the partition 10. The plates 4 change their relative positions when passing over the sprocket wheels or drums, so that adherent dust is released. This action is assisted by a trip or stop 9 which causes the elements to lift or vibrate. Horizontal rails 7 prevent the chains from sagging.
