Abstract

788,939. Coating webs. HALL HARDING, Ltd. Nov. 8, 1955 [Nov. 9, 1954], No. 32421/54. Class 140. [Also in Group XX] A web of material is passed over a table 11 and under a guide rail 14 into contact with a driven roller 12 spaced from and geared with a roller 16 to rotate in the same direction. The roller 16 rotating in a trough 17 of coating liquid whereby liquid is maintained between the two rollers by surface tension and is fed to the roller 12 and to the web. The web may pass under pressure rollers 21, 22 above the roller 12 and over a conveyer belt 20 for further treatment. A developer liquid may be applied by this means to diazotype sensitized print to carry out part of the process described in Specification 570,027, [Group XX]. The pressure rollers may be mounted side-byside and the guide rail may be omitted. The rollers are made of metal or plastic and may be adjustably mounted.
