Abstract

786,524. Hydraulic brakes. GIRLING, Ltd. May 24, 1956 [April 28, 1955], No. 12250/55. Class 103 (1). Energization of a booster for a boosterassisted hydraulic brake system is controlled by a pair of valve heads 27 and 28, pivotally mounted on opposite ends of the head of a T- shaped rocking lever 25, the stem 24 of the T being engaged by a control-piston assembly 23 acted on in opposite directions by manually generated fluid pressure and by the pressure in the hydraulic system, the arrangement being such that movement of the piston assembly 23 in one direction tilts the lever 25 about one valve 27 to open the other valve 28 and movement in the opposite direction tilts the lever about the other valve 28 to open the first-mentioned one 27. The control piston 23 moves in a stepped bore, the end of the piston exposed to the manually generated pressure being of greater diameter than that exposed to the pressure in the hydraulic system.
