Abstract
786,257. Control of two D.C. motors. COMPTOIR DE L'INDUSTRIE COTONNIERE ETABLISSEMENTS BOUSSAC. April 27, 1956 [Feb. 7, 1956], No. 12945/56. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] A series motor 1 for winding threads in a textile machine is energized from a generator 7 having a series field windings 9, 10, and a separately excited field winding 8, the arrangement being such that winding 10 opposes the windings 8 and 9, and has a greater number of turns than the winding 9. A motor 12 for supplying threads to the winder is energized from a generator 13, the field winding of which is regulated by means of an adjustable resistor 15. The field winding 8 is energized in accordance with the voltage applied to the armature of the motor 12, and, for normal operation, the voltage of the generator 7 is essentially determined by the degree of excitation of the winding 8. During this period, the field winding 9 is short-circuited and the winding 10 is shunted by resistors 20, 21. Since the winding 10 opposes the winding 8, the voltage of the generator 7 is automatically reduced as the torque of the motor 1 increases due to the increase of the diameter of the material upon the winder, and this ensures constant tension of the threads for a given linear speed thereof. The speed of the motor 12 is modified by alteration of the resistor 15, the slider of which is coupled with that of the resistor 21 whereby constant tension of the threads is maintained. For low-speed operation, the resistor 20 only is shunted across the field winding 10, a resistor 11 in series with the winding 8 being adjusted to produce the required flux when the voltage corresponding to the low speed is applied to the motor 12. To maintain a constant voltage when at rest, the winding 8 is disconnected and the field winding 9 is shunted by adjustable resistor 17. The winding 10 is shunted by resistor 20 and produces a flux less than that from the winding 9. To reverse the winder, the winding 9 is connected in circuit without any shunt and is weakly opposed by winding 10 shunted by resistor 20. At the same time, the connections to the field winding 2 of the motor 1 are changed over.
