786,172. Shaft mountings. ZERNY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. May 15, 1956 [Feb. 15, 1955], No. 4503/55. Class 80 (2). Tapered longitudinally-split bushes for mounting sheaves, pulleys and other machine elements on shafts are made of hardenable steel and are provided with a plurality of longitudinal ribs in the bore. Thus when the bush is wedged into the hub of a machine element the ribs bite into the surface of the supporting shaft. The ribs may be of 90 degrees angular cross-section. The invention may be applied to the shaft mounting described in Specification 750,186.
