785,544. Multiplex radio signalling. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 29, 1955 [Aug. 4, 1954], No. 22567/54. Class 40 (5). In a system for transmitting television and the accompanying sound signals at U.H.F., the two carriers, which are of closely related frequency, are amplitude modulated at low level, combined, and then amplified together by a klystron amplifier. The two carriers derived at 3 and 6 from crystal oscillators are modulated at 2 and 5 by the video and audio signals respectively. The modulated outputs are fed to a combining filler 7 and thence to the input cavity 9 of a klystron amplifier which is coupled to the aerial by cavity 11. To reduce cross-talk, overall negative feed-back of signal components up to 20 kc/s. is applied via frequency selective circuits 14, 15; or a part of the video signal may be fed in anti-phase to the audio modulator and vice versa.
