Abstract

803,620. Frequency modulation receivers. RANK CINTEL, Ltd. Jan. 25, 1957 [Feb. 1, 1956], No. 3180/56. Class 40 (5). In a television receiver including a frequency modulator V.H.F. channel the vision I.F. signal is applied to a known I.F. amplifier 5 and display circuits, the sound I.F. signal being applied to both the amplitude modulation detector 15 and discriminator 16, the output of the latter being fed to a low-pass filter 20 and automatic frequency control circuit 21 in order to stabilize the local oscillator 4 on both vision and F.M. reception. The lowpass filter may either exclude all but the very low frequency output of the discriminator, or may pass audio frequency, thus providing frequency compression by varying the oscillator frequency as a function of the audio output.
