Abstract
785,308. Presses for separating liquids from solids. - HEINRICH, R. M. Sept. 15, 1954 [Oct. 12, 1953], No. 26765/54. Class 46. [Also in Group VI] As shown, a strainer, suitable for expelling husks from a beer mash, has a tapered screw conveyer 25 rotating within a frusto-conical screen 26, made e.g. of stainless steel sheet, housed in a casing 27. Liquid is strained through the screen 26 into the effluent tube 28 and solids are expelled through an orifice 36 of adjustable aperture. sustaining conditions are established the steam is shut off. The effluent which has passed through the concentrator exchanger is passed to a separator S2. A valve V is provided for passing effluent direct from separator S1 to separator S2. The preheat exchanger is heated by effluent liquid from separator S1. Preferably the minimum fuel value of the feed is 3,000 British Thermal Units per gallon ; e.g., it may be 7,000 units.
