Abstract

785,077. Electrolytic capacitors. MALLORY & CO., Inc., P. R. July 5, 1955, No. 19414/55. Class 37. An electrolyte capacitor comprises a tantalum anode 17 mounted within a silver housing serving as the cathode and comprising two casings of silver, one fitting closely within the other with the inner casing 31 inverted with respect to the outer casing 11 as shown in the Figure and thus providing a shelf on which a rubber gasket 16 is placed prior to the sealing of the capacitor by bending over of the walls at the outer end of the outer casing 11. The anode 17 is insulated from the casing structure by means of a tube 30 of insulating material which surrounds the anode 17. An anode terminal wire 23 leads from the anode 17 through an aperture in the gasket 16 provided for that purpose. The shelf formed by the bottom of the inner container 31 is provided with a central aperture 40 through which the lead 23 passes; the gasket 16 is provided with a small depending plug-like portion which fits closely within the aperture 40.
