784,998. Cutting-tools and tool holders. DRUMMOND BROS., Ltd. Aug. 22, 1955 [Nov. 15, 1954], No. 33054/54. Class 83 (3). A toolholder comprises a block 1 with a tapered recess 3, 5 housing a carrier 11 for the tool or tools 12, the carrier having a split 13, extending from the or each tool, which is closed to clamp the tool as the carrier is drawn into the recess by its shank 10, which is received in a passage 2 extending from the bottom of the recess. The carrier is drawn into the recess by a tubular nut 7 engaging screw-threads in the block and on the shank 10. A screw 15 in a lower jaw 14 of the block engages the bottom of the tool 12, which may be of circular, triangular or rectangular cross-section.
