784,020. Pneumaticsprings. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AKT.-GES. Sept. 30, 1955 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 27851/55. Class 108(3) In a pneumatic spring for vehicle suspension, comprising two air chambers 9, 10 intercommunicating through a throttling device 12, which provides a greater restriction on compression than on expansion, one of the chambers 10 comprises a container 10a connected to the sprung or (as shown) the unsprung part 2 and having a cover in which the device 12 is arranged. A diaphragm 8 of channel-shape cross-section having an inner wall in contact with the container 10a closes a container 9a comprising the chamber 9. The latter is connected to the sprung part (not shown), and serves as a support for the outer wall of the diaphragm. In operation, on compression, air is forced from the reservoir through a port 14, lifting valve 13. On rebound the valve 13 is maintained closed and flow is confined to a restricted passage 16.
