Classes 20(4) and 107 An integral extruded metal grating for floors, gangways &c. comprises beams B the upper flanges of which are united to form a tread surface with V-shaped ridges 12 arranged in groups about each beam B. Openings 13 are stamped out of the connecting flanges to allow passage of light &c. and the upstanding edges 14 improve the strength and non-slip properties of the surface. The ends of the grating can be closed in by plates, and in applications where a greater space is desired below the surface, the gratings are welded on to transverse girders.
