Abstract

783,512. Magnetrons. BOOT, H. A. H., and BUCKINGHAM, J. Jan. 17, 1955 [Jan. 18, 1954], No. 1402/54. Class 39(1). A multi-cavity magnetron is provided with cathode decoupling studs 15 on the anode, Fig. 1 or Fig. 3, or on the cathode or cathode end shield, Fig. 5 or Fig. 7, or the cathode end shield may be of polygonal or similar non-circular shape to simulate a cathode end shield with studs. In Fig. 1 output connections connect alternate segments to a single member 13 ; the studs 15 are provided on the other segments. The studs can be joined by a part or complete ring strap. The R.F. potentials induced on the cathode may also reduce back bombardment by being of appropriate phase to repel electrons approaching the cathode. The magnetron may be of the " rising-sun " type.
