Abstract

783,430. Heating mixture; mixing charge; collecting unvaporized fuel. LIVERSEDGE, G. E. Aug. 24, 1955 [Aug. 27, 1954], No. 24952/54. Classes 7(2) and 7(3) The induction pipe is arranged substantially horizontally within the exhaust manifold so that exhaust gases will flow directly around the induction pipe to rapidly heat the pipe and liquid fuel in the mixture impinges upon spaced perforated baffle means upstanding in the lower path of the mixture and lighter vaporized mixture flows unimpeded above the baffle means. The fuel may be vaporizing oil such as paraffin. As shown an induction pipe 7 preferably of copper is located within the exhaust manifold 1 which may be of sheet steel and which comprises exhaust ports 4. The induction pipe has two branches 3 leading to the engine inlet ports. Within the two branches are perforated baffles 8. The baffles which may be of copper are upstanding from the pipe bottom and have a rearward inclination relative to the flow. They extend to a point below the axis of the induction pipe. The baffle perforations may be all of one size or may vary in size.
