Abstract

782,605. Furnace electrode. VEREINIGTE ALUMINIUM-WERKE AKT.-GES. June 2, 1955 [June 5, 1954], No. 15894/55. Class 39(3) [Also in Group XXII] A method of removing a current supply bolt 3 from a continuous anode 1 made from pre-burnt carbon blocks in an aluminium electrolysis furnace consists in removing the material surrounding the bolt and withdrawing the bolt. It is stated that such bolts have been removed previously by hydraulic pulling, or unscrewing, devices. The material is removed by a drill 4 supported by handles 6 and rotated by an electric or compressel air motor 5, Cuttings escape through holes 7.
