Abstract

781,122. Valves. DIKKERS & CO. N. V., G. June 16, 1955 [July 2, 1954], No. 17326/55. Class 135. In a gate valve having a wedge-shaped slide, the slide 3, provided at its sides with guide grooves 14 engageable with casing ribs 15, is formed on each seating face with an annular recess 6 housing a T-section synthetic rubber ring 7 which is pressed into the recess by pressing rings 8, 9 and inner and outer screwthreaded clamping rings 10, 12 so that the rings 8, 9 stand slightly proud of the ring 7. On moving the slide between seats 2 in the casing the engagement of the rings 8, 9 by a seat further compresses the ring 7 which is extruded through the gap between the rings 8, 9 to form a fluid-tight seal with its seat. The rings 10, 12 instead of being screwed on to the slide 3 may be secured thereto by set-screws.
