Abstract
780,123. Hinges and pivots. PATON, CALVERT & CO., Ltd. and MELSHER, F. G. Sept. 28, 1955 [Sept. 30, 1954], No. 28166/54. Class 65(2) [Also in Group XIV] A tray, table; chair or the like has a pair of U-shaped legs 3 pivoted on brackets depending from the underside of the tray of which at least one has abutments 11, 14 between which the leg is held in the extended position. The leg 3 is pivoted on a long rivet 12 and the abutment 14 has an inclined edge 15 so that the leg 3 may move from a 'folded to an extended position under the action of gravity alone by sliding down the face 15 and snapping into the space between the abutments 11, 14. Such a bracket may be used at each corner of the tray or at a pair of diagonal opposite corners.
