Abstract

The individual particles of ferriferous, e.g. iron powder for use in the manufacture of compressed and sintered articles are provided with a copper coating by treatment with a solution of a copper salt in an aqueous medium containing hydrochloric, hydrobromic or hydrofluoric acid and a nitrogenous organic basic inhibitor. The copper salt may be the sulphate, chloride or carbonate; inhibitors referred to are coal tar bases, aldehyde-amine reaction products, amino acids, alkaloids, end corresponding sulphonated and sulphated derivatives of these, specific compounds being mentioned.
