Abstract

778,991. Forging; extruding. BIGINELLI, O. F. A. Oct. 25, 1955 [Oct. 29, 1954], No. 30506/55. Addition to 735,804. Class 83 (4). In an extrusion apparatus of the kind disclosed in the parent Specification, the extrusion plunger has a head 12 of general conical shape and a shank 7 whose diameter is less than the maximum diameter of the head whereby during extrusion the extruded metal will not frictionally engage the shank of the plunger. The plunger is cooled by liquid such as water circulated through a tube 26 and returning along the outside of the tube to transverse ducts 24 in the base of the plunger.
