Abstract

738,762. Extruding. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DU DURALUMIN ET DU CUIVRE. Sept. 30, 1952 [Oct. 2, 1951], No. 24454/52. Addition to 643,857. Class 83 (4). The extrusion apparatus of the parent Specification is modified in that the mandrel has portions of a diameter greater than that of the forward cylindrical portion so that the extruded tube has at least two parts of different but uniform internal diameter. The mandrel comprises a cylindrical front portion 5 followed by a tapered portion leading to a part-spherical portion of which the part from C to E is of larger diameter than the cylindrical portion. During the extrusion operation the internal diameter of the tube will at first be determined by the diameter of the cylindrical portion as with the apparatus of the parent Specification, but when the portion C to E has passed through the die 10, then this enlarged portion will determine the internal diameter of the remainder of the extruded tube.
