Abstract
1,071,456. Making finned tubes; rolling; drawing tubes. ANACONDA AMERICAN BRASS CO. April 26, 1965 [May 7, 1964], No. 17432/65. Headings B3A, B3M and B3P. An internally-finned metal tube is produced by drawing a tubular member 11, together with an externally finned mandrel 10, through a drawing die 17, the wall thickness of the member 11 being reduced and the profile of the inside of the tube conforming with that of the mandrel. To release the member from the mandrel, a ring (20) (Fig. 4, not shown), is rotated around the member so that rollers 22 mounted freely on the ring reduce the wall thickness slightly and thus radially expand the member. An elongation of the member 11 during drawing to three times its original length is obtainable.
