Abstract

778,113. Moulding joint-seals. MATHEWSON CORPORATION. Sept. 1, 1955, No. 25126/55. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXVI] Packing formed of rubber or similar resilient material is moulded into interconnected grooves 20, 21 in a metal sealing ring 10 by means of a lower die 30 having a ring-holding cavity 31 and an upper die 34 having a plunger 39 for forcing the packing in a plastic state from a cylinder 38 into the grooves through side or central openings 35, 35a. The dies have raised portions 42, 44 which enter into the grooves to form side fillets 47, 48 and central projections 43, 45.
