Abstract
750,248. Moulds for injection moulding machines. AUTOGRAF BRUSH & PLASTICS CO., Inc. June 21, 1954 [Oct. 2, 1953], No. 27145/53. Class 87(2) A multi-part die for injection moulding comprises an upper part 2, movable towards and away from a fixed lower part 1, and carrying a plunger 8 with cavities 9 co-operating with cavities 13, 17, 18, 19. (Fig. 2) or fixed part 12 and movable parts 16 of a lower die, to form a moulding cavity 15, e.g. for a plastic brush, Fig. 4. The parts 16 may be retracted in the direction of cavity 17, sliding on the fixed part 12, by the engagement of knuckles 27 of toggle joints 26 and are held in place during moulding by sliding wedges 22. Thus as the upper part 2 descends, the projecting parts 10 of depending arms 6 engage arms 29 of the toggles 26 rotating them about their pivots 24 so that the parts 16 are moved into operative position. The toggles 26 similarly disengage the parts 16 when the upper part 2 moves out of engagement with the lower part 1.
